As times become darker internationally, with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine dominating the headlines and the havoc wreaked by Covid-19 still being felt around the world, believers are wondering how and when the troubles will end. Attention is turning to end-times prophecies, specifically the return of the Lord Jesus to earth, and events attending that return.
In chapter 24 of the Bible’s book of Matthew, the disciples asked Jesus about the sign of his return. In his answer to them, Jesus predicted a time of intense suffering that will precede his second coming. That period of suffering is known as the Tribulation (verse 21).
Today, there are influential voices in the Christian community that say that believers will not have to endure the prophesied tribulation period. Christians are being challenged, therefore, to make a choice: to believe either that they will escape that time of great distress by being secretly raptured before the Tribulation, or alternatively, to believe that Christians will have to survive or die during the tribulation period and only be raptured or resurrected at the end of the Tribulation, when Christ returns to earth.
That difference of opinion is the subject of this book.
