The How Does Your Garden Grow? Devotional provides a model for praying through Scripture. This technique helps readers to connect with God’s Word on a deeper level. It moves them beyond just reading words on a page to experiencing the inspired Word of God speaking directly into their hearts.
This Devotional is divided into nine chapters, each of which focuses on one of the Fruits of the Spirit. Each entry includes follow-up verses and prayers to help readers meditate and pause in the Lord’s presence to let Him cultivate these qualities in their lives.
Deborah’s modeling of praying through Scripture defines words and verses with literal and spiritual meanings. This is essential for comprehending and applying God's Word to one's life. The E-book is beautifully illustrated and shaded in lovely watercolors with accompanying sketch art.
Unfolding God’s love for us (in the first Chapter, “The Fruit of the Spirit … is Love”) was precious to me, and I think it will be valuable to my readers. It teaches us how we are to love the Lord through His Word. It brought reassurance to my own heart, and I believe it will to you as well!
Do you have Little or Living Faith?
"He answered, ‘Because of your little faith [your lack of trust and confidence in the power of God]; for I assure you and most solemnly say to you, if you have [living] faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and [if it is God’s will] it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.’” Matthew 17:20 AMP
Dear Jehovah, I love how the AMP translation of Matthew 17:20 displays contrasts within this Scripture. These words examine what our “little faith” and “living faith” produce. Little faith is defined as a lack of trust or confidence in Your power; whereas living faith is analogous to a mustard seed. This means You can take our tiniest amount of belief and multiply it mightily by Your Spirit’s power, holiness, or blessing. How beautiful I find this illustration to be, Lord. Every day as I pray, I’m asking You to bring about transformation and renew me with joy in my heart. I’m seeking Your wisdom for every decision. I’m asking for healing (for myself and my loved ones). I’m asking You to deepen my trust in the promises that You’ve made and let me respond to Your voice quickly and obediently. And I’m asking that You teach me to hope for the impossible (from man’s perspective) so I see You move (in miraculous ways) in my life. Amen.
A mustard seed type of faith emphasizes God’s power—to take it and make it bloom, grow, and produce—fields and trees by focusing on God’s omnipotence, deliverance, and love.
