The resurrected Jesus Christ told his disciples that the Old Testament is his words and is about him (Luke 24:44). Finding Jesus in Genesis: A Biblical Commentary on the Presence of the Preincarnate Jesus Christ gives a chapter-by-chapter commentary on the presence of Jesus Christ in Genesis. The book provides evidence in Genesis of the beginning of the redemptive work of Jesus Christ that brought about our salvation. I published the book on February 5, 2022, and is available in paperback and as an eBook: www.amazon.com/author/drbenpennington.
Although there are many books published as biblical commentary, my book is unique in several regards. First, my book is a biblical commentary focused solely on Genesis. Second, my book offers proof and defends the statement made by Jesus Christ (Luke 24:44) that the Old Testament is his words and is about him. Third, my book gives proof of the pre-existence of Jesus Christ in Genesis. Finally, it shows his involvement in the people's lives and events in Genesis.
Wow! I already knew the New Testament detailed the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Our Lord is the central theme and the main character of both testaments in the Bible. Like a great Hollywood movie production, the Old Testament is the biographically inspired work of the Preincarnate Jesus Christ. He is the producer that created the heavens and the earth. Our screenwriter is the author and finisher of our faith. As the director, he carefully arranged each event in sequential order. The Preincarnate Jesus Christ is the set designer and the creator of all things. Our lighting director created the sun, moon, and stars. He is the casting director that carefully selected each character for their role. The Preincarnate Jesus Christ is also the costume designer who killed innocent animals to clothe the characters. Furthermore, he is the stunt director that wrestled with Jacob until daybreak. And finally, he is the leading character in the production and periodically makes Preincarnate cameo appearances.
Joseph is alone with his brothers, away from the Egyptians and his interpreters. He speaks directly to them in Hebrew, their native tongue. Joseph told his brother Benjamin to come close to see him and confirm his identity. He convinced them that he was their brother. Joseph urged his brothers to bring Jacob's entire household to Egypt quickly. He knew that Goshen was the ideal location for them and their livestock. Joseph wanted his brothers to tell his father what they had heard and seen while in Egypt. Once again, Joseph is quick to give God, not Pharaoh, the glory for his rise to power in Egypt. His promotion came from God, not from man (Psalms 75:6-7). Joseph's urgent plea points forward to the urgent appeal Jesus Christ has made for our salvation. Joseph urged his brothers to tell Jacob about his honor in the land of Egypt. So, likewise, Jesus Christ has commanded us to go to all nations and proclaim his glory and honor (Matthew 28:19-20).
