The book has 200 days of a daily walk with God. There is a story from the Bible or prayer that is tied to the previous story that was told for each day. The stories are mostly in chronological order to give the kids the sequence of the events. The prayers all started with thank you to God and ended in the most powerful name - Jesus.
The book has a life application for the kids to put themselves in place of the characters and decide what they would have done. The kids will know that the Bible characters were normal human beings just like themselves. The kids will be able to express themselves to God anytime about anything.
The knowledge that we can talk to God the same way we talk to our earthly father makes the kids have a one-on-one conversation with God about anything - big, small, or funny.
Day 108 – God Talks to Samuel
Samuel was only a small boy when God first talked to him.
Can you imagine that? And how did this happen?
One night, Samuel went to sleep on his little bed in his room. After he fell asleep, he heard someone calling his name.
"Samuel, Samuel," the voice said.
Samuel jumped up and rubbed his sleepy eyes. 'Who was calling him?' he wondered. He hurried over to Eli's room.
"Did you call me, Father Eli?" he asked.
"No, son, I did not. Go back to sleep."
Samuel went back to bed. The voice came another time, and he went back to Eli.
"But you did call me," Samuel said.
"No, I didn't."
So, Samuel went back to bed. The voice came the third time, and this time Eli knew it was God calling Samuel. So, he told Samuel that the next time he heard the voice, he should say, "Speak Lord, Your servant hears You."
When Samuel did this, God spoke to him. Samuel was both afraid and happy. He found out that God knew his name and had a special job for him to do in Israel.
Always remember that God knows your name, and He has a special job for you to do, too.
Day 109 – Prayer
Thank You, God, because You know the number of the hairs in my head. Dear God, You know my name, and I am so happy about that. It also means that You have a special job for me to do. Please help me to find it and do it well. Thank You, Lord, for having a plan for me, even before I know it. In Jesus' name. Amen.
