When brokenness comes, breakthrough is near. Let the overwhelming pressure of trials break our will and, through faith, unite us to the will of God, whose divine strength is then imparted to our spirit and mind. Because God is unlimited in power, when we are united with Him and His will, we can do all things. No obstacle is too big, and no darkness is too threatening. No evil intimidates, and no pressure is too severe.
So don’t shrink back from pain. Don’t give in to despair. Don’t disobey and take the easier way out. What do you do in these circumstances? Do exactly what Jesus—whom we follow—did. “During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission” (Hebrews 5:7). Jesus is our model for transformation during our God-ordained trials.
Let what overwhelms you break your will and heart, cry out to Jesus and submit your will to God’s will for you in this trial. Trust Him. Trust the process on the Calvary road marked before you. You’ll find several places on your journey with dying moments required of you along the way.
Remember, the Pioneer of your faith went before you, and the Father has you now following His Son. He also has an awesome redemptive end to this journey, just like He did with Jesus. Take this narrow, humbling path marked out for you. It leads to life—abundant life.
