May each precious daughter gain a better understanding of what it takes to be a girl that chases after the Way, the Truth and the Life.
As a mom of two teen daughters, I scrolled through the internet in search of a good devotional, but I struggled to find one. This devotional was written out of my own momma heart longing to remind my own girls of their value and worth found in the One that created them. To let them know that there is a way to live, not just an abundant life, but an eternal one as well. This devotional points them back to Scripture to fill their hearts with the Truth of who they are and Who they belong it.
At the end of each devotional, there is a way to connect to Jesus and take the next step by putting what was read into action. It makes them read, respond, reflect adn then react. The main purpose of this devotional is to get them to draw close to the Savior, while reminding their heart He has a plan and beautiful purpose for their life.
Embrace Your Girl Power
There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:28 (NLT)
There is a lot of confusion in the world about the value of being a woman, especially a woman of God. What exactly does that mean, and why does it matter?
Remember where your identity is found? Yes! In Him. God is the only One that can declare your worth. Remember how God made you in His own image, and that He doesn’t make mistakes? He intentionally made you to be the girl that you are – on purpose! These truths are very important to hold onto when our culture wants to declare you weren’t made for a purpose or that being a woman comes with restrictions.
God may have designed man and woman very differently and given us different roles, but don’t misunderstand – we were created equally. Neither gender is better than the other. Romans 2:11 says that God shows no partiality.
God actually lays out very clearly in the Bible the value and importance of women. First of all, you are His masterpiece. Psalm 139:14 states we are fearfully and wonderfully made. In respecting God and His creation, we should follow the example God lays out for us in His Word. One beautiful example of a Godly woman is found in Proverbs. The entire book of Proverbs lays out life instructions for all God’s children, both sons and daughters. But Proverbs 31, especially, is one that many look to for guidance. The beginning of Proverbs 31 speaks to the sons. It speaks to a young man growing up and talks about the way to live a righteous life. It says to honor and love only one woman, to not overindulge in adult beverages, to give to the oppressed, and speak up for injustice. In essence, a man is to lead and respect his home.
Proverbs 31 then goes on to speak about the woman of noble character. It lays out a pretty lengthy list that can seem intimidating. However, when we look at the overall message, it is similar to the one above because she, too, is to respect the home. She respects her husband while she works diligently to care for her family. This is the Godly woman we are called to be.
So, as you grow into being a Godly woman, start embracing your girl power now, because it is truly a precious gift. And in this world, a gift that is very rarely seen and lived out. However, if we live a life that honors God and others while working with a happy heart, we can show the world who God is through our love and actions. We can show the world a little more about the gentle (yet powerful) love a woman can offer.
